There are so many amazing books out there for babies and children. It can be overwhelming trying to narrow down the books that you should have for your kids. I wouldn’t even know where to start if someone asked me to come up with a list of the most important books for kids to have. However, I do think that all kids can benefit from having a few Priddy Books on their shelves.

Doesn’t it sometimes feel like you live most of your life in the car? Running errands. Waiting at stoplights. Stuck in traffic. Shuttling the kids back and forth to events and activities. With everything going on in our busy lives, it can sometimes feel like there isn’t time to add anything else into our schedules. However, those little moments spent in the car can add up. Spend some of that time engaging your kids in these simple activities and encourage learning in the car!

Vincent Van Gogh is one of the most famous artists in the world, and often one of the first that kids learn. Thanks to Disney’s Little Einsteins, my daughter learned to recognize “The Starry Night” when she was only 2. I love introducing her to all kinds of art, music and culture and giving her background knowledge that will help her later in life, and allow her to develop her own tastes and opinions. Today we had the opportunity to check out a picture book about Vincent Van Gogh and his journey to create his most famous work. We also had lots of fun creating Van Gogh activities for kids to pair with it!
We got hit by the cold and flu bugs flying around this year, like a lot of families out there. This children’s book about dragons is not only a lot of fun, but shares a rhyming reminder to keep your germs to yourself, which my daughter now happily repeats!
Dogs are amazing. They are fiercely loyal, friendly and happy creatures that can give you unconditional love. I have always loved dogs, and we had pet dogs when I was growing up. Our dog Sheldon (yes that is really his name!) is now my daughter’s best friend, and she loves playing with him and reading to him. I have always encouraged her to read to him because reading to dogs can be extremely beneficial to kids. Since he is such an important part of our family and her life, we like to make sure that we make is life extra special. I decided to encourage their special reading time by creating a comfortable place for them to read and snack together.
My mother loves to bake and cook. She bakes a
Alphabet books can be a wonderful way to start introducing your children to letters and letter sounds. They provide a fun and often whimsical introduction to all the letters of the alphabet. The stories are oftentimes childhood favorites. In grad school, we studied a wide variety of alphabet books and even created our own versions for a class project. I was amazed at the wide variety of alphabet books available, and I wanted to put together some of the most fun and interactive ones that I have come across.
