What’s Up, Construction Truck?

Written by Matthew Reinhardt and illustrated by Toby Leigh

This adorable interactive lift-the-flap book introduces little readers to construction vehicles and the work that they do. The book uses simple language and large, colorful illustrations with flaps hidden throughout the image. When you are done reading it, the book can be folded into a 3-D bulldozer, with the illustrations becoming part of the structure!

Little Pups in Big Trucks

Written by Bob Shea and illustrated by Brian Won

This sweet board book follows a group of puppies attending their first day of puppy school. Each puppy drives a different construction vehicle in a different color. The playful text includes lots of sounds that kids will love repeating and colorful fonts that highlight the different colored trucks. The story also includes an important lesson about working together, as the puppies try to save their teacher from a pile of rubble.

Written by Bob Shea and illustrated by Brian Won

This cute board book follows the same puppies from Little Pups in Big Trucks as they learn an important lesson about listening and problem solving. When one of the pups gets a little too excited about digging, the other pups have to work together to save him. Kids will love watching the little puppies work together, and the sweet illustrations full of adorable puppies and bright colors.

Big Green Garage

Written by Jen Arena and illustrated by Mike Dutton

In this interactive book, young readers have an opportunity to explore a garage and see how the people working there fix cars. The simple rhyming text explores the tools mechanics use, and the steps they take to problem solve a broken vehicle. The illustrations are really cute, with interactive elements on each page. Kids will love lifting the cars onto the tow truck, turning a wrench, pumping an air pump, and racing a car around a track with the interactive elements.

Written by Sherri Duskey Rinker and illustrated by AG Ford

This adorable Valentine’s addition to the Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site series follows the beloved trucks as they celebrate Valentine’s Day. This sweet bedtime book puts a truck inspired spin on the classic lullaby “Hush Little Baby”. The story follows a mother and her child as they attempt to find the child’s lost toy truck. They imagine themselves using truck after truck to find the toy, eventually wrapping the song up with a sweet ending. The rhyming text has a nice rhythm for lulling little ones to sleep, and the pictures show the mother-son pair driving all kinds of big trucks in a snowy scene.

Do You Know? Vehicles and Transportation

Written by Camille Babeau

This informational guide to all things transportation is stuffed full of information for young truck enthusiasts. The book starts with a table of contents, exploring all of the vehicles outlined in the book, separated into categories: On Land, On the Water, and In the Air. There is also a section called More to Know exploring inventions from the past and for the future. Each two page spread focuses on a different type of vehicle, from animals to snow travel to submarines. Each category is explored through labeled illustrations, while the sidebars contain more information and facts. Kids will love exploring all of the types of transportation depicted so clearly in this guide!
