This has been proven by research time and again. So I make it my mission to make sure that my daughter has new and exciting books all around the house. Building a family library can seem daunting, but there are lots of fun ways to get quality children’s books for your home. Kellogg’s Feeding Reading program is a fun way to fill your bookshelves!

Buy 1 Box, Get 1 Book

Just in time for back to school, Kellogg’s and Penguin Random House have joined forces to help you fill your bookshelves. If you buy any Eggo product during the promotional window, you can earn a free Penguin Random House book for your child or your school! Kellogg’s wants to get more books into more hands, to help kids gain confidence in reading and get a good start to their day with a Kellogg’s breakfast.

Buy 1 Eggo, get a FREE Penguin Random House book

Redeeming your free book is really easy on FeedingReading.com! Buy any participating products by 9/30/19. Take a picture of your receipts with the qualifying purchases. Next, log in to Kellogg’s Family Rewards and upload your receipt. Each receipt must be submitted separately and within 30 days of purchase. You will then receive a credit to redeem online for a free Penguin Random House book of your choice to either keep or donate.

The process was really easy! At Walmart, we were able to find all kinds of delicious Eggo waffles to try. Once I took the photo of my receipt and uploaded it, we had the opportunity to check out the catalog of over 100 books available for redemption. There were lots of popular series to choose from. I was really impressed by how quickly we received the books too! Credits have to be redeemed by 12/1/19, and there is a limit of 10 books per participant. Check out the Kellogg’s Family Rewards site for full promotional details, and head over to Walmart.com to check out the different flavors of delicious Eggo waffles!

More Tips for Building a Family Library

Local Sales

Keep an eye out for local book sales. There are several charitable organizations in our area that do yearly book sales. They sell tons of used books at low prices. My daughter loves looking through all of the books, while I have found some of our favorite authors and series for next to nothing.

Online

I have been able to get some of our favorites for very cheap online, just by looking at the right time. You can also purchase used books, and these can end up being even cheaper. Online marketplaces such as eBay or Facebook marketplace are also great places to look for deals on used books. Often people will sell large lots of related books, meaning you could score a whole series at a great price!

Library Sales

Check with your local libraries to see if they do any book sales. Our library does a couple of sales per year, and we have found some great deals. They have even done a bag day where we could fill a paper bag with as many books as we could fit for one low price.

Consignment Stores

I have noticed lots more kid’s consignment stores popping up in the last few years. I have found some great books at our local ones. One of the stores even offers a free book every month. If you have books that your kids have outgrown, then a consignment store is a great option. They can try to sell the ones they have outgrown, and purchase new ones to replace them.

Building a home library can be costly. But thanks to fun programs like Feeding Reading, and some savvy shopping, it can be easy to surround your kids with fun new books!
