Mama Bunny Handprint Artwork

To bring these adorable books to life, I decided that my daughter and I would create some bunny themed artwork. So we used a canvas and paint to create this Mama and Me painting.

First, I gave my daughter the chance to choose what color she wanted our bunny rabbits to be and we mixed the colors. I asked her to make a fist, then extend her index finger and pinkie finger. I painted the back of her hand and fingers with the color we mixed, then pressed the painted part onto the canvas. Next, I made a “V” shape with all of my fingers (or the Spock symbol from Star Trek), and painted the back of my hand. I pressed my hand onto the canvas next to hers.

We then used white paint on our fingertips to create eyes on our bunny shapes. Lastly, I helped her to make two red fingerprints in a heart shape for the noses. After the paint had dried, I used a black marker to draw pupils in the eyes, and add whiskers to the noses.

You could also do this on a smaller scale, using your thumbprints to create the Mama Bunny and baby bunny. Then you can add the ears, eyes, and nose with a small paintbrush or marker.

I love that we have all of these adorable Mama bunny books to read at bedtime, and to share the many ways that we love each other. Now she also has this fun artwork to hang in her room and remind her of my love and support!
