Tiny T. Rex and the Impossible Hug

Written by Jonathan Stutzman and illustrated by Jay Fleck

In this adorable story, a tiny T. Rex goes on a mission to find a way to hug his friend Pointy and cheer him up. His arms are too small to hug Pointy, so he decides to ask for advice from some of his loved ones. As T. Rex goes around practicing his hugs and trying to come up with a solution, he encounters lots of funny scenarios. The funny and heartwarming text is accompanied by adorable illustrations of the tiny dinosaur and his unique family members. Kids and adults will both be able to appreciate the sweet message at the end of the story.

Stegothesaurus

Written by Bridget Heos and illustrated by T.L. McBeth

This exploration of synonyms and dinosaurs introduces the reader to a Stegothesaurus, who is a little different from other dinosaurs. Stegothesaurus knows all kinds of words, so he uses three words for everything. When he meets another dinosaur with a large vocabulary, he is intrigued. Until he finds out how she learned so many words! This funny story is packed full of new vocabulary words, and the cute cartoon illustrations use a striking peach, teal, black and white color palette.

Written by Thad Krasnesky and illustrated by Tanya Leonello

As they try to escape they realize that they don’t know how to use a time machine! This funny story is perfect for little dinosaur lovers who like to eat. The illustrations are often done in a comic book style, showing lots of action. Dear Dinosaur: T. Rex on Tour

Written by Chae Strathie and illustrated by Nicola O’Byrne

When the dinosaur exhibit leaves from the local museum to go on tour, Max is very sad. So his mother convinces him to write a letter to Rex. Rex soon replies, sharing tidbits about their fun trek around the world and the places they are visiting. The story takes a sweet turn when Max explains homesickness to his friend Rex, and shares some tips for battling it. The text includes actual letters and postcards, some of which can be folded off the page. The illustrations are hilarious, showing Rex and the other dinosaurs engaging in all kinds of fun activities.

There’s a Dinosaur on the 13th Floor

Written by Wade Bradford and illustrated by Kevin Hawkes

When Mr. Snore heads to the Sharemore Hotel, he is hoping for a good night’s rest. But every room that he stays in is already inhabited by a different animal or creature. He makes his way up floor by floor until he decides to sleep on the 13th floor, not realizing that it belongs to a dinosaur. This silly story of the quest for a good night’s sleep will have kids laughing along as Mr. Snore tries room after room. The illustrations are eye catching, showcasing elaborate rooms, and a funny main character with a large nose.
