Thankful was written by Elaine Vickers and illustrated by Samanatha Cotterill. This beautiful book follows a young girl as she prepares for her family’s tradition of making thankful chains. She starts in her room, looking for things she is grateful for around her. Through the book, she finds all kinds of things to be thankful for, both big and small, and writes them on slips of paper she adds to her paper chain. By the end of the book, her chain wraps around her whole room, and she tells the reader that her family will start reading from the chain the next day.

The text is full of things to be thankful for that kids will be able to relate to and see in their own lives. The illustrations are created out of three-dimensional paper sets, and they are incredible! The tiny details and the adorable cut paper characters make this a beautiful book to look at.
