Did you have an influential librarian in your life? I vividly remember visiting our school library as a child, and I have lots of memories of our librarian. There are several books that I remember her reading to us, and I now enjoy reading them to my daughter.
As a teacher, I had the opportunity to work in the school that I grew up in. I was even able to work with that same librarian. At the 5th grade moving up ceremony one year, she read Dr. Seuss’s Oh the Places You’ll Go to the whole room. As I was preparing to graduate from grad school myself, it brought tears to my eyes. It reminded me the power that librarians can have to introduce kids to books and the power of words. Today I decided to honor these special people with this list of children’s books about librarians and the power that they have to open our eyes!

Purchasing baby gifts can be overwhelming. There are so many options and so many things to consider. Do you go for the adorable outfit or the practical car seat base? I am so grateful for the relationship that my daughter has with my parents. Family is so important to me, and I truly believe in the importance of passing on our knowledge, traditions, and memories to future generations. Years ago, I found a journal and stack of letters that my grandfather had written while he was serving overseas, and my father and I typed them up as a Christmas present for our family. This lead to my father writing up an entire family history, which he gifted to all of us in book form. It has become a treasured part of my library. When I had the opportunity to check out today’s book, it touched my heart because it speaks to the same idea of sharing family memories and passing them on to the next generation.
As a teacher, I had a lot of experience learning about different learning styles, multiple intelligence’s, and learning disabilities. I am always thrilled when I find books that represent kids with different learning styles in a positive and empowering light. So I was thrilled to have the opportunity to check out this book series celebrating how we learn!
I love finding or creating items that can be used for lots of different educational activities. When I stumbled on this set of alphabet clothespins in the Target Dollar Spot, I was really excited about all of the possibilities. We had a lot of fun playing letter recognition games with these. In addition to letter recognition and fine motor skills, these easy to make manipulatives can help kids work on a variety of skills.
