The Best STEM Subscription Box for Kids!

I love that there are so many fun books and products available now to make STEM subjects interesting and exciting for kids. The STEM projects that I remember from childhood are the hands on activities that showed me instead of told me. So I am always excited to try out new products with my daughter that allow her to experience STEM subjects in a fun and engaging way. That’s why I’m thrilled to share our experience with KiwiCo and tell you why it is the best STEM subscription box for kids!

When I first learned about KiwiCo, my daughter was a little too young to understand it. I loved the idea of monthly hands-on STEM activities delivered right to our front door. So I was thrilled when she got a bit older and they offered boxes made just for her age level! I received a trial box as a bonus for an Ultimate Bundle I purchased, but after that one box we were hooked. We are now full year members, receiving 1 box a month, and my daughter adores it! She gets so excited when that box comes in the mail (who doesn’t love getting mail?), and she can’t wait to see what theme is wrapped up inside.

What’s Inside?

We are currently receiving the Koala Crate, aimed at ages 3-4. Each month, the box comes to our house stuffed full of learning activities, a parent guide and a magazine full of stories and educational information. All of the materials follow a specific theme. So far, we have received Rainbows, Farm, Reptiles, Music, and Dinosaurs.

As soon as we open the box, I pull out the copy of Imagine! magazine and read the stories to my daughter so we can become familiar with the topic. Almost immediately after opening everything, she always wants to jump right into the crafts and activities. (I had trouble getting lots of pictures for this post because she is always so quick to want to make everything!). The parent guide outlines the activities included, showing which materials are needed for each project.

All of the materials are pre-cut and pre-glued, making them incredibly easy for kids and parents to use. There are also labels for any materials that are needed for more than one project, so you know to save some.

Learning Activities without the Hassle!

I was so blown away by our first KiwiCo box! Not only were the activities fun and engaging for my daughter, but the materials were so easy to use! No cutting, gluing, or sewing required. All of the hard work is done for you. You could easily make all of the activities as soon as you open the box!

Each of the games and activities that we have received have been a lot of fun to play with. My daughter replays the games over and over. The musical instruments that we made in the Music box have become part of our regular dance parties in the living room. The adorable rainbow pillow that we made in the Rainbow box now lays in her doll’s bed.

Why KiwiCo is the Best

My daughter obviously loves the fun games in the box, as well as the brightly colored toys that we make together. She loves being able to play with something that she built, created, or decorated.

From the parent/teacher perspective, I absolutely adore the learning that we are able to do with these boxes. Within one read of the Imagine! magazine in the Reptiles box, she was able to tell me some of the characteristics that reptiles have. Learning about (and creating) fossils in the Dinosaur box has inspired her to search for dinosaurs whenever we are outside.

Options for All Ages

There are a wide range of subscription box options available. These include:

  • Tadpole Crate – Ages 0-36 months
  • Koala Crate – Ages 3-4
  • Kiwi Crate – Ages 5-8
  • Atlas Crate – Ages 6-11
  • Doodle Crate – Ages 9-16+
  • Tinker Crate – Ages 9-16+
  • Eureka Crate – Ages 14-104

These different boxes were designed by experts and tested by kids to foster necessary skills and inspire creativity and exploration. While the Tadpole and Koala crates encourage learning through play and exploration of the world, the crates for older kids branch out into exploration of different subject matters. The Kiwi, Tinker and Eureka crates all focus on STEM subjects, while the Atlas crate offers projects around geography and culture, and the Doodle crate explores art and design.

Each of these crates offers hands on learning opportunities with quality materials shipped right to you! No longer do you have to run to the story to pick up more glue or thread to create that project.

These crates are a fantastic way to bring more learning fun into your home. Every month you can set aside time to learn about a new subject together, and create fun projects that you will enjoy using again and again.
