Teaching Kids Through Educational Programming

Get kids moving and learning with this new educational programming from Greg Page, the original Yellow Wiggle! #educationalprogramming #educationalvideosforkids #education #earlychildhoodeducational #earlylearning #childhood #TVforkids #WhatIsYourChildWatching #ExploreDiscoverAndGrow #adAre you worried about what your kids watch on television? I am pretty strict about the shows that I let my daughter watch. I do control the amount of screen time that she gets, but I am also an advocate for educational programs for kids. My daughter loves shows that encourage her to answer questions and sing and dance along. So I was thrilled to learn that Greg Page (the original Yellow Wiggle from The Wiggles), has created a new series of educational videos for kids!

What is Explore, Discover and Grow?

Finding quality entertainment for kids can sometimes be difficult. Did you know less than 1 in 8 children’s TV programs is considered educational? So much development happens in the early years, so quality books and entertainment are more important than ever. With Explore, Discover and Grow, Greg Page aims to teach kids through music, movement, language and play. This “edutainment” experience reaches several different learning styles, and also teaches kids that learning can be fun.

Explore, Discover and Grow consists of 104 ten-minute videos that are released directly to subscribers twice a week. The series is being crowdfunded, and the campaign went live on October 21st, 2018. Page says, “We are working at the moment to “pre-sell” as many subscription packages as possible so we can gauge the demand for the product.”. You can be a part of this revival of quality children’s educational television by backing the Indiegogo campaign. This will also get you access to all of the content created: bit.ly/ExploreDiscoverGrow

Check out what Greg himself has to say about it!

When asked what got him into children’s entertainment, Page talks about both his desire to entertain, and his passion for education. He says, “I just had this feeling inside me from a young age that I was going to be on stage, and then as I got older, the feeling turned to being in the education field. As the “universe” would have it, I met Anthony Field (the original, and still-current Blue WIggle) and he suggested that I get into early childhood teaching, as it involved a lot of music and creativity – for the child and also the teacher!”

“So I went along to check out the early childhood diploma course that Anthony was doing at the time, and that sealed it for me. I think I had found my calling, and after seeing what was achievable with The Wiggles and how we applied our teaching knowledge to entertaining children it has been a passion of mine ever since – to create entertainment that is purposeful and delivers outcomes for children.”

Educational programming that gets kids moving!

Page uses his understanding of kids and media to create Explore, Discover and Grow. As he says, “Media can be used to engage the child on multiple levels, but these days, I observe a lot of children simply sitting down and watching TV or “swiping”, or making other gestures to select the content they wish to watch.”

“Explore, Discover and Grow is a program that will have children physically AND mentally active which is perfect for developing the brain of a child that is 3-4 years old. Developing the brain of a child in this way really makes learning faster, and more memorable so children are active thinkers!”.

My daughter is happiest when she is moving, singing, and dancing. So I am thrilled that he is creating programming that will appeal to her and help her to learn.

What parents should know

Page really hopes to reach parents that are interested in balancing their children’s screen time diet. He says, “There are two parts to what we are doing with Explore, Discover and Grow – the first part is the crowdfunding part where we are giving people the chance to “pre-order” the series of videos, by backing our campaign and helping to fund us. This means our backers will receive more than 50% off the recommended retail price of the program, as well as ongoing access to extra content that we make in year 2, if we are able to continue on making the series. The second part of what we are doing is to launch the full streaming service in April of 2019, so that it can be available to everyone. So for less than the cost of a cup of coffee per week, their child can have a head-start in life and get some balance in their screen-time diet!”
