Learning Fun with Usborne Books & Discovery Toys!

I believe that books are one of the best ways to teach kids about the world around them, so I am always excited to find new books that can educate. In addition, anything that brings books to life is a winner in my book. Therefore, I was excited when I was approached by Allison Silletto to review an Usborne book matched with a toy from Discovery Toys! What better way to get kids excited for a new book, than pairing it with a fun and educational toy?

Usborne Books & Discovery Toys

Usborne Books offer a wide variety of colorful and educational books for kids of all ages to enjoy. From board books and interactive books to non-fiction and activity books, there is something for everyone. Their engaging books are beautifully illustrated and encourage kids to learn and discover the world through reading.

Discovery Toys provides quality learning toys meant to spark a kid’s imagination and encourage learning through play. Their mission (Teach Play Inspire) recognizes that kids learn best through play and their toys and products are created with this in mind. They create fun and colorful products which kids will enjoy growing and learning with.

Bathtime Fun

Alison kindly matched a book and toy to my daughter’s age and reading level. We received How to Bathe Your Little Dinosaur by Jane Clarke and Georgie Birkett paired with Shape Shell Turtles from Discovery Toys. My daughter cracked the book open as soon as we received it, and we have been reading and rereading it ever since! This colorful book is part of a series of How to books reviewing daily routines in the life of a toddler. The book follows a little boy as he prepares a bath and bathes his dinosaur. The peppy rhyming text flows from page to page. My daughter likes making the noises in the story (such as the pop pop of the bubbles and the drip drop of the water). I am definitely looking forward to checking out the rest of the books in the series!

Learning Shapes, Colors & More

The Shape Shell Turtles are a fun water toy for practicing color and shape recognition. Each turtle has a shape sticking out of it’s back and a removable shell with a matching shape cut into it. They are made of mold resistant plastic and come with a mesh bag. I was very pleased with how sturdy the turtles and their shells are. They are great for use in the bathtub or a water table, as well as anywhere else.

These adorable turtles gave us a lot of learning opportunities. We had a lot of fun mixing up the shells and the turtle bases and matching them back together. Since we have been reading a lot about rainbows lately, we lined up the turtles in rainbow order as well. The turtles stack well together, so we had fun creating towers and pyramids with them too.

I highly recommend this series of books from Usborne Books and these adorable turtles from Discovery Toys. I am excited to get to know more about these companies as well as the products they offer. Check out Allison’s website Turtle & Buddy’s or her Facebook page to learn more!

  1. My mother sold both Discovery Toys and Usborne Books. The quality and play value was tremendous. Now my own daughter is playing with the same toys and reading the same books that my brother and I played with and read!

  2. I just started getting into Usborne books! They all seem to be really visually beautiful and have good stories. This one looks especially adorable and perfect for bath time!

    • My daughter has received a few of them in the past, but I didn’t know too much about them yet. This one is so cute, so it’s a great starter into the world of Usborne!

  3. We LOVE usborn books!!! This one looks super cute–so far we have a whole bunch of the “that’s not my ____” series and love them hehe 😀
